Marketplace: Lousy Labels - MAGAZINE DOC (Blog #4)

This magazine documentary is a very interesting one. They look into different products that claim to be organic and natural when they're really not. Almost every lotion and cream they go through is not organic or natural when these companies claim that they are. However, in this documentary they let us know that if the product has only 1 natural ingredient in it, they are allowed to call their product organic. Which is really misleading to the public when we are out shopping.

They look into one family man who has 2 little children of his own and he always tries keeping them as healthy as possible by using natural products like baby lotion and shampoo so they don't have chemicals touching their bodies. They let him know about the study that is going on about these products and he is very disappointed and embarrassed like we all are. We all spend that extra money to be healthy by buying these misleading products and its just not fair. They also do a comparison between two baby lotions, one organic and the other not. The natural one is 65% more expensive then the regular one, but when you look at the ingredients, they're are about 95% the same thing! That comparison was very effective in this documentary and it sure gives people ideas of what to do when your shopping. I know next time me or any one i know wants to go organic or natural that they're simply being scammed.

Overall, a very effective and interesting documentary that helps raise awareness about what we put on our bodies, and how we effect our wallets.

Beyond The Glory: Kevin Garnett - TV DOC (Blog #4)

This documentary is about a great and famous NBA player Kevin Garnett. Kevin Garnett has been one of my favorite basketball players growing up and i knew a lot about him through reading biographies and articles but this documentary showed me the younger side of him and how his career started. Kevin Garnett grew up in a small town in South Carolina and took his high school basketball team by storm. He was the greatest prospect in the entire country with averages of 14 points a game, 14 rebounds a game, and 7 blocks per game. This documentary had great supporting interviews with not only his family and friends, but his old coaches from high school.

Kevin Garnett is known for his emotion on the court.

A huge controversy happened in the spring of 1994 when Kevin Garnett was at the wrong place at the wrong time. A few of his friends got into a heated confrontation with a student and they ended up beating him, causing several injuries. Kevin Garnett was present so he was also being charged with "Lynching" and could potentially face 15-20 years in prison. The charges on Kevin were later dropped because he was innocent, however he had already been expelled from school because of the situation which left him in scary situation. He thought his dreams of making the NBA had been over until a school in Chicago gave him the opportunity to redeem himself. Which raises the question, if those charges weren't made on Kevin, would he have gotten that opportunity in Chicago which allowed him to make the NBA? No one will ever know but it truly is a prime example of "everything happens for a reason".

Kevin later on declared for the NBA draft and has been playing in the NBA for almost 15 years now. He is considered to be one of the greatest players of all time.

Overall, a great documentary and i really recommend it to all Kevin Garnett fans who are interested in seeing how his life unfolded into the NBA and what made him who he is today.

When We Were Kings: Movie Documentary (Blog #4)

When We Were Kings FIlm

This documentary is about the greatest boxer of all time Muhammad Ali and his match up against George Foreman. This match up has to be one of the most memorable fights in boxing history. In this doc, we get a closer look at the personalities of these two famous people rather then just their ability to box. Muhammad Ali is definitely a character in and out of the boxing ring and his ability to trash talk has to be the best ever.

This film also touches upon racism issues the world was having at the time and Ali says some interesting things about being African and living in America. "Damn America. I live in America, but Africa's my home." Which lead people to criticize him for not only claiming he was the "greatest ever" but because he would say some disturbing things. Ali was always known for his freedom of speech is why I love the guy, but George Foreman on the other hand seemed to be more laid back and collective which is why i think he had more of a steady fan base.

Muhammad Ali went on to beat George Foreman in a 15 round epic battle which is considered to be one of the greatest fights ever. The battle was named "The Rumble in the Jungle". Overall it was a great documentary and i really enjoyed seeing what was going on before and after this great fight and everything in between. Only thing i would have done differently though would be to cut it down a bit. I found there to be some unnecessary stuff that made me just want to fast forward which could have been taken out to enhance the film more.
